The Shop Instructor works directly with students, faculty, and other shop instructors to ensure that all safety and dress codes are met and in accordance with established Art Center Shop policies. Responsibilities include providing a safe working environment for the students while helping them to use the machinery and tools within the shop; completing work orders from faculty, students, and staff; and assisting counter sales and tool check-in/out when necessary. This is an on-call position, and hours can range from 6 – 20 per week during the school term.

Environment: Work is performed primarily in a shop setting with frequent interruptions and distractions; extended periods of time using shop equipment including computers, viewing computer monitors, hand tools, saws, power tools etc.; interactions with other individuals. Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an shop setting; to stand or walk for prolonged periods of time; including, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, squatting, and twisting; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull moderate to heavy amounts of weight (up to 50 or team-lift up to 100 pounds); to operate office and shop equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.
Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
