Full-time Faculty - History of Technology and Industrial Design

ArtCenter College of Design is seeking a dynamic full-time faculty member (rank of assistant professor, non-tenure track) to teach History of Technology and Industrial Design. The successful candidate will develop courses with an emphasis on technology since modernity.  The candidate will teach a required course in the history of industrial design plus electives.  The department seeks candidates with an interest in collaborative teaching with studio faculty.

Reports to: Chair of Humanities and Sciences

FLSA status: Exempt

Qualifications

 

  • Doctoral degree in history or design from and accredited college or university, must be completed at time of application 
  • Two years of college level teaching experience, especially in areas related to the Art Center’s programs.
  • A record of scholarly research
  • Ability to employ a variety of teaching techniques and strategies to address the diverse learning needs of students
  • Ability to handle confidential student information with tact and discretion
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within Art Center’s diverse communities
